This role supervises Maintenance & Repair (M&R) Vendors, ensuring all safety rules are followed and equipment repairs protect the integrity of the equipment. The position involves performing pre- and post-repair inspections, authorizing repairs, and conducting timely audits to evaluate and control the quality of vendor work. The supervisor makes decisions to protect TRAC's interests by pursuing the lowest total-cost options, assessing the necessity and appropriateness of repairs, and managing the M&R budget by dictating repair expenses and tire quantities. This includes determining if repairs are due to damage versus wear-and-tear, ensuring vendor accountability for missed damage or damage caused by yard handling, and communicating with vendors and facilities to ensure accurate gate inspection notations and yard handling procedures. The role also ensures compliance with AAR and FMCSA rules, TRAC repair procedures, and approved parts. The supervisor reviews take-off tire inventories, tracks tire usage, inspects tires for failure causes, and pursues warranty credits. Daily review of bad order/out-of-service inventories and addressing all chassis within the required timeframe is also a key responsibility. The position requires the use of handheld and mobile technology for daily duties. Invoice processing involves reviewing vendor repair invoices for accuracy, ensuring timely submission according to the M&R Vendor Agreement, assisting with corrections, and approving accurate invoices for payment. The role also manages the 3rd party billing process and reviews field estimates and EDI invoices to identify repairs due to abusive handling by truckers, compiling necessary documentation for the 3rd party process and resolving disputes. Support for the M&R Management program includes assembling statistics for management regarding audits, expenses, and operational efficiencies, and performing physical inventory reconciliations. Logistics support involves counting available and damaged chassis, reviewing rail terminal operator information, and completing chassis reconciliation between marine, rail, CY locations, and the Seacastle/Trac Lease system. Road calls are handled by following OTR procedures, identifying the cause of the problem, locating a mobile repair vendor, and recommending the most cost-efficient and safe repair method. Depot support includes understanding chassis progression for term lease terminations, discussing and prescribing repairs according to IICL standards, performing COHNA surveys to maximize revenue from lease terminations, reviewing and prescribing repairs for chassis to be repaired or scrapped, recognizing and applying warranties, coordinating inspections, and QC/post-inspecting chassis booked for lease.
