This is a three month contract position where the inspector will supervise third party M&R Vendors, ensuring all safety rules are utilized and equipment repairs are performed to protect the integrity of the equipment. The role involves performing pre- and post-repair inspections, authorizing repairs, and conducting timely quality audits of vendor work. The inspector will make decisions on behalf of TRAC to achieve the lowest total-cost options, assess the necessity and appropriateness of repairs, and manage the M&R budget by dictating repair expenses and tire quantities. Key responsibilities include determining if repairs are due to damage versus wear-and-tear, ensuring vendor accountability, and communicating with vendors and facilities regarding inspection notations and repair procedures. The role also requires ensuring compliance with AAR and FMCSA rules, TRAC repair procedures, and approved parts. The inspector will review take-off tire inventories, track tire usage, inspect tires for failure causes, and submit failures for warranty credit. Daily review of facility bad order/out-of-service inventories and addressing all chassis within the required timeframe is also essential. The use of handheld and mobile technology is expected for daily duties.
