This role involves supervising Maintenance & Repair (M&R) vendors, ensuring safety rules are followed, and equipment repairs are performed to protect equipment integrity. The position requires performing pre- and post-repair inspections, authorizing repairs, and conducting quality audits of vendor work. The supervisor will make decisions to achieve the lowest total-cost options without compromising safety, manage the M&R budget by dictating repair expenses and tire quantities, and determine if repairs are due to damage versus wear-and-tear. This includes ensuring vendor accountability for missed damage and communicating with vendors and facilities regarding gate inspections and yard handling procedures. The role also ensures compliance with AAR and FMCSA rules, TRAC repair procedures, and approved parts. Additionally, it involves reviewing take-off tire inventories, tracking tire usage, inspecting tires for failure causes, and pursuing warranty credits. Daily review of facility bad order/out-of-service inventories and addressing all chassis within the required timeframe is also a key responsibility. The use of handheld and mobile technology is expected for daily duties.
