About The Position

The Charge RN oversees frontline nurses caring for patients on the Gastro Med Surg unit. The role provides direct supervision of personnel on Nursing Units, supports staff development, and helps align unit operations with patient care goals. The Charge RN advocates for fellow nurses while maintaining accountability for staff and unit performance, communicates effectively with individuals and groups, and is comfortable handling difficult conversations. The position values prior experience in acute care, long-term care, or nursing homes.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, upon hire.
• Registered Nurse license in Kentucky, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR), within 14 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 90 days.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in acute care, long-term care, or nursing homes.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct supervision of personnel practicing on Nursing Units.
• Makes patient care assignments, evaluates assignments, facilitates patient throughput, and directly observes staff performance during the assigned shift.
• Proactively matches available resources to patient care needs while supporting staff and maintaining a therapeutic environment.
• Monitors productivity and ensures staffing and resources are aligned with patient care needs.
• Communicates personnel-related concerns to the Unit Manager.
• Uses a logical, systematic approach to problems and problem-solving.
• Facilitates Patient Experience best practices on the unit, including hourly rounding.
