About The Position

The Charge RN II – Maternal/Newborn position at Texas Health Southwest is a full-time role requiring a passion for nursing and a commitment to being Better + Together. The Maternal/Newborn Department is a Mother friendly designated, a Texas 10-Step designated, and a Magnet designated facility. The unit is a newly renovated Mother/Baby, couplet care unit with 26-beds, where the team operates like a family. The department averages between 285-300 deliveries per month. This role offers self-scheduling to support work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR Nursing Diploma required
  • RN – Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
  • One-year (1) Year Experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in an acute care setting Required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days Required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required
  • Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
  • Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN – Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred
  • 2-years’ experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting preferred
  • 2-years current Mother/Baby RN experience strongly preferred

  • Directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
