Charge Nurse - LVN or RN
About The Position
The Charge Nurse (LVN or RN) provides and coordinates resident care while supporting resident well-being. The role requires reliability, consistent attendance, trustworthiness, multitasking ability, and a professional, cooperative approach to working with others. The Charge Nurse guides Nurse Aides, administers medications, implements care plans and treatments, transcribes physician orders, and documents care and nursing assessments. The position also supports communication between shifts, educates support staff about resident care needs and nursing procedures, promotes workplace safety, and responds to staffing shortages by arranging replacement staff.
Requirements
- Be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in good standing.
- Demonstrate excellent technical, assessment, and documentation skills.
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to organize workflows effectively.
- Respond efficiently to emergencies and pay attention to detail.
- Be trustworthy, consistent in attendance, able to multitask, and professional and cooperative.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to Nurse Aides to ensure appropriate care for residents.
- Safely administer resident medications as prescribed.
- Implement resident care plans in compliance with company policies, federal guidelines, and physician orders.
- Deliver treatments as required to support resident health and comfort.
- Accurately and promptly transcribe physician orders.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in resident charts and complete required nursing assessments.
- Participate in shift reports to support communication and continuity of care.
- Implement nursing policies and procedures and educate staff on residents’ care needs.
- Promote a safe working environment by complying with infection control and body mechanics procedures.
- Respond to staffing shortages by arranging replacement staff as necessary.
