About The Position

This role is specific to the Expansion Project aiming to double our sterile injectable drug manufacturing capacity! The plant process engineer manages integration/modification projects for equipment/rooms and production process improvements assigned to them, in order to increase production efficiency and minimize quality and health & safety risks. They perform problem-solving to address technical issues with production equipment. They provide technical support to production in their execution and reduce recurring deviations related to equipment. They collaborate on audit observations, client requests, or other technical questions to address needs/demands. The plant process engineer must ensure rigorous monitoring of the quality, schedule, and budget of their projects when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in project management
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Knowledge of aseptic processes
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, chemical, or automation engineering or equivalent experience
  • Member of the OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec)
  • Analytical mindset, autonomy, customer service, and good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and automated systems
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ease in managing pressure and adapting to change
  • Bilingual (French and English): the position holder will need to collaborate with regulatory authorities and suppliers and/or clients located outside the province of Quebec.
  • Good communication and sense of urgency (priority management)
  • Foster exchanges and teamwork
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (AutoCAD, MS Project, Visio)
  • Knowledge of CAD and CMMS software

Responsibilities

  • Follow the start-up and optimization of new equipment
  • Provide technical support to operations regarding execution
  • Participate in complex problem-solving (troubleshooting)
  • Design equipment modifications while respecting aseptic and operational requirements
  • Intervene on production lines to resolve technical problems
  • Analyze machine downtime and propose corrective actions
  • Participate in the commissioning of new equipment
  • Improve performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Optimize production and maintenance processes
  • Propose and implement quick and effective troubleshooting solutions
  • Design and implement technical modifications to optimize equipment
  • Write control changes and procedures to implement changes/solutions
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve processes
  • Document interventions, modifications, and results obtained
  • Participate in the development of preventive and predictive maintenance plans
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment modification or installation projects
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Ensure deadlines, costs, and quality standards are met
  • Write intervention reports and technical procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
  • Define needs and prepare project feasibility studies
  • Communicate with equipment suppliers
  • Plan projects to be carried out with production, engineering, maintenance, quality assurance, and contractors to minimize impacts on production
  • Follow up on work: inspections, schedules, meetings, communications
  • Ensure project closure: budgets, documentation (CCs), etc.
  • Using Lean/Six Sigma tools, analyze the use of production equipment, labor, and machines to reduce waste and increase efficiency
  • Assume a leadership role as project manager
  • Participate in continuous improvement committees and aseptic committees
  • Perform any other administrative task requested by their manager
