About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. Blackburn Correctional Complex is seeking qualified applicants to serve as the Chaplain in the Religious Branch at the institution. The Chaplain is an important team member that plans, coordinates and conducts religious services and provides pastoral care to the inmates.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a theological or divinity school with a master's or doctorate degree in divinity, theology or a related field.
  • Must have certificate of ordination or denominational/ecclesiastical approval.
  • Must provide the employing agency's appointing authority documentation of successful completion of a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program within six (6) months of employment in this job classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience as an ordained minister will substitute for the required education.
