The Chaplain delivers a wholistic ministry of spiritual care for patients, families, team members, and physicians. This role provides spiritual care, consultation, and short-term counseling, facilitates sacramental ministries, and responds to codes, emergencies, and crises. The Chaplain assists families with needs related to a patient's illness, including understanding end-of-life procedures and contacting loved ones. They promote patient safety, participate in departmental and patient service area activities for integrated services, and provide overall site coverage, including weekends and holidays. The Chaplain also serves on committees, participates in patient care planning and interdisciplinary team activities, identifies and resolves ethical dilemmas, and mentors students in the clinical pastoral education program. Additionally, they support and interpret the mission and values of Advocate Aurora Health, support parish clergy, and participate in educational initiatives and support groups. Maintaining good standing and ecclesiastical endorsement through active participation in one's faith group is required.
