About The Position

Ambercare Hospice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain to join our team in Las Cruces, NM. In this meaningful role, you will provide spiritual care, emotional support, and compassionate presence to patients and families during some of life's most significant moments. Working as part of an interdisciplinary hospice team, you will help address spiritual and emotional needs, promote comfort and dignity, and offer guidance that supports patients and loved ones throughout their end-of-life journey. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology and/or a certificate of ordination or commission from a religious faith group
  • Previous hospice experience working with death and dying strongly preferred
  • Comfortable in an interfaith setting and able to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required

Nice To Haves

  • completion of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs spiritual bereavement assessments of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program in a timely manner and ensure that identified needs are addressed in the patient’s plan of care
  • Provides direct spiritual care and bereavement counseling to patients and families/caregivers
  • Demonstrates exceptional service to patients, families, referral sources, co-workers, and other customers.
  • Assists team members as needed to ensure that this level of service is consistently provided
  • Provides accurate and timely documentation of patient services to reflect the plan of care
  • Attends group meetings to facilitate coordination of care and discussion of interdisciplinary group involvement
  • Provides consultation, education, and support to the interdisciplinary group on spiritual care and bereavement counseling
  • Participates in Continuous Care and on call, if necessary
  • Assists in supervision of spiritual care volunteers when assigned to patient’s families/caregivers as needed
  • Assumes responsibility in directing the development and implementation of the bereavement plan of care and the frequency of service delivery; make available bereavement services for up to one year following the death of the patient
