Change Management Lead

Prime Controls•Lewisville, TX

About The Position

Prime Controls is seeking a full-time Change Management Lead (CML) to operate its Enterprise Change Management System (ECMS) and manage change initiatives across the company. The CML is a dedicated project manager and resource of the Change Control Board (CCB), accountable for initiatives from intake and discovery through governance review, execution, pilots, adoption, and sustainment handoff. The role coordinates work across departments and applies disciplined project management without replacing department leaders’ or process owners’ subject-matter expertise or authority over their operations. The role operates with functional independence and does not report into a single division. It reports at the executive level, with the final reporting structure to be confirmed as the ECMS design is completed. Prime plans to hire one CML initially, with additional CMLs potentially added as change volume grows into a dedicated Operational Excellence function. The CML is expected to develop enough understanding of Prime’s business and workforce to work credibly with managers, field leaders, and automation professionals. The CML also maintains the organization-wide change calendar, manages capacity and sequencing, oversees pilot evaluation, leads 30/60/90-day adoption reviews, and serves as the communication hub for assigned initiatives. The position is intended to strengthen departmental capacity rather than add to departmental workload.

Requirements

  • PMP or CAPM certification.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise and a track record of leading cross-functional projects end to end, executing disciplined plans, and delivering results on schedule.
  • Strong facilitation and structured-discovery skills, including leading working sessions with unfamiliar teams and turning discussion into problem statements, charters, and plans.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across organizational levels, from field technicians to executives.
  • Sufficient business literacy to establish credibility with managers and field leaders, learn Prime's terminology and processes quickly, and represent them accurately.
  • Strong documentation discipline and proficiency with ticketing systems, SharePoint, and project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Excel-based plans.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and helping refine a newly established role and system while operating them.
  • Ability to prioritize objectively using criteria across divisions and communicate difficult sequencing decisions constructively.

Nice To Haves

  • Established tenure and working relationships within Prime Controls, or a demonstrated record of quickly building trust as an external project manager.
  • Experience in systems integration, controls, construction, or another environment with a large billable field workforce.
  • Familiarity with formal change management frameworks such as Prosci ADKAR or Kotter's model.
  • Experience running pilots or phased rollouts with defined success criteria and go/adjust/stop decision points.
  • Experience developing training or process documentation that supports sustained adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and screen change requests, acknowledge tickets within one business day, schedule intake sessions, and return incomplete requests with structured questions.
  • Conduct discovery with requesters, their teams, and impacted groups; use turtle diagrams, problem statements, and change charters to map processes and identify value drivers.
  • Assess order-of-magnitude risk and impact, identify process owners, categorize and prioritize requests, and log all requests—including rejected and paused requests—in the ticketing system.
  • Prepare CCB review packets covering value proposition, dependencies, impacts, strategy, cost, and risks; present findings and recommendations for governance decisions.
  • Approve qualifying small, low-risk changes under defined criteria, route larger changes to the CCB and the largest initiatives to the ELT, and support sponsor assignment for threshold-level initiatives.
  • Manage assigned initiatives as dedicated project manager from approval through sustainment, including building and owning project plans, schedules, action plans, and pilot plans.
  • Select project teams in solution-design and implementation phases by requesting team members through department managers.
  • Create process and training documentation, ensure process-owner validation and delivery of training after stabilization, and transfer documentation ownership to the process owner's department at handoff.
  • Collaborate with process owners on go/no-go decisions without unilaterally changing departmental plans.
  • Reallocate bandwidth and communicate milestone impacts when project resources are reassigned to billable work.
  • Own and maintain the organization-wide SharePoint change calendar; apply milestone criteria, surface scheduling collisions, notify stakeholders of resourcing impacts, and keep paused initiatives visible for review.
  • Sequence initiatives against organizational readiness, act as the capacity gate for organizational change, and communicate deferrals objectively.
  • Oversee implementation-team pilots by monitoring progress, interviewing users, and capturing structured feedback and usage data; pause underperforming pilots when appropriate.
  • Review pilot results with the CCB, project team, and project champion against established success criteria.
  • Lead 30/60/90-day adoption reviews with process owners, track behavior and results, achieve a full green sustainment score after the 90-day review, and hand initiatives off to Operational Excellence.
  • Serve as the communications hub for assigned initiatives and coordinate readiness, messaging, and frontline feedback with project champions and communication specialists.
  • Advocate for change as department-driven improvement while respecting departmental ownership and minimizing unnecessary process overhead.
  • Document governance decisions, criteria, and outcomes, and close feedback loops with requesters.
