About The Position

The Change Communications Consultant serves as a strategic advisor and hands-on practitioner who develops and executes communication strategies supporting enterprise business transformation initiatives. This role goes beyond traditional internal communications with a focus on change communications and requires the ability to diagnose communication needs, advise leaders on messaging strategy, and produce high-quality content, often while navigating evolving scope, competing priorities, and incomplete information. The role partners with program managers, change managers, and business leaders to deliver clear, targeted messaging, while operating independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum overall: 5 years in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Of which: 3+ years specifically focused on change communications in support of business or technology transformations.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience in adjacent disciplines (e.g., change management, organizational development) will be considered.
  • Creative, adaptive, and self-directed — a quick learner who takes initiative and continuously looks for better ways to engage audiences and strengthen impact.
  • Strong visual communication and presentation design — ability to build polished, persuasive PowerPoint decks and supporting visual materials.
  • Consulting presence and influence — ability to build trust with senior leaders, advise credibly on messaging strategy, and engage effectively in both one-on-one and large group settings.
  • Organizational awareness — ability to read the environment, sense how change lands across different audiences, and anticipate communication or readiness risks before they surface.
  • Effective in ambiguity — exercises independent judgment and delivers quality work with incomplete information, shifting priorities, and evolving scope.
  • Strong prioritization and time management — balances competing demands across multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Analytical and insight-driven — comfortable designing survey strategies, interpreting engagement data, and translating findings into actionable improvements.
  • Detail-oriented — committed to accuracy in both written content and visual design.
  • Digitally fluent — able to learn and leverage enterprise communication platforms, content management tools, and project management tools effectively.
  • AI and emerging technology — comfortable leveraging modern tools to improve speed, quality, and insight in communications work.
  • Creative, adaptive, and self-directed — takes initiative, learns quickly, and continuously looks for better ways to engage audiences and strengthen impact.

Nice To Haves

  • Change management certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Write, design, and produce communication assets — including email announcements, leadership talking points, FAQs, articles, website copy, video scripts, and PowerPoint presentations — translating complex changes into clear, accessible messaging for all organizational levels. Own first-draft quality, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand standards before review. Support basic video editing and creation as needed.
  • Shape and advance the organization's change communications capability by developing standards, tools, templates, and repeatable approaches that raise the baseline of quality and consistency enterprise-wide. Bridge communication practices across functions — aligning approaches, reducing duplication, and strengthening collective impact of functions that produce internal or external communications. Support and coach communications professionals to deepen their craft, strengthen internal knowledge, and measure overall effectiveness so the practice matures alongside the pace of organizational change.
  • Develop and maintain integrated initiative communication plans coordinated across Change Managers, Program Managers, Employee Communications, Marketing, and Technology. Partner with PCM Change Consultants to align messaging with impact assessments, readiness plans, and adoption milestones — ensuring communications drive awareness and reinforcement, not just information distribution. Adapt sequencing and priorities as scope, timelines, and stakeholder needs evolve.
  • Advise change leads, sponsors, and project teams on messaging strategy, audience approach, tone, timing, and channel selection — often working with limited direction and evolving scope. Help connect initiative-level messaging to broader organizational themes so communications reinforce a cohesive change story rather than competing for attention. Assess readiness, surface communication risks early, and recommend action before issues escalate. Strengthen connectivity across PCM-led initiatives by coaching on draft communications and reinforcing standards that drive consistency and impact.
  • Oversee internal change communication channels — including microsites, targeted digital distribution platforms, and other established channels — ensuring content is current, relevant, and reaching the right audiences through the right vehicles. Manage audience-segmented communication delivery and maintain a central repository of communication assets, ensuring easy access, organization, and version control.
  • Establish and track communication KPIs, providing both quantitative and qualitative insight into effectiveness. Design and manage survey strategies to assess audience sentiment, readiness, and communication impact at key points throughout change initiatives. Gather stakeholder feedback, analyze engagement data, and apply learnings to refine strategies and strengthen future communications.
