Washington Rural Healthcare CFO Opportunities
About The Position
Rural Staffing Services partners with rural hospitals, clinics, public hospital districts, and community healthcare organizations throughout Washington to identify experienced financial leaders who understand the unique responsibilities of rural healthcare. We are currently connecting with healthcare finance executives who may be interested in active and upcoming Chief Financial Officer and senior financial leadership opportunities across Washington. These opportunities may include leadership within Critical Access Hospitals, rural and community hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, public hospital districts, long-term care organizations, and integrated rural healthcare systems. In rural healthcare, the Chief Financial Officer is not simply responsible for financial reports and budgets. The CFO helps protect the long-term stability of an organization that may be one of the most essential employers and community resources in the region. Rural healthcare finance requires strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to communicate clearly with executive leaders, department managers, boards, employees, and community partners. The strongest rural CFOs understand that every financial decision connects directly to patient access, workforce stability, community trust, and the organization's ability to continue serving its region.
Requirements
- Progressive healthcare finance leadership experience
- Experience as a CFO, Vice President of Finance, Controller, Finance Director, or comparable senior leader
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, accounting, audits, reimbursement, and financial reporting
- Experience presenting financial information to boards and executive teams
- An understanding of rural healthcare operations and reimbursement
- Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, public hospital districts, FQHCs, Rural Health Clinics, or community healthcare organizations
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, healthcare administration, or a related field
- A collaborative, transparent, and relationship-focused leadership style
Nice To Haves
- A master's degree, CPA, or other advanced credential may be preferred for some opportunities
Responsibilities
- Providing strategic and operational leadership for the organization's financial functions
- Developing budgets, forecasts, financial plans, and long-term sustainability strategies
- Overseeing accounting, financial reporting, cash flow, audits, and internal controls
- Supporting revenue cycle performance and reimbursement strategy
- Monitoring financial performance and communicating results to executive leadership and the governing board
- Managing relationships with auditors, banks, vendors, government agencies, and external partners
- Supporting capital planning, grants, funding initiatives, and major organizational projects
- Partnering with operational and clinical leaders to improve performance and resource stewardship
- Ensuring compliance with applicable financial, regulatory, and reporting requirements
- Helping the organization navigate growth, transition, turnaround, or financial uncertainty
