About The Position

The Office of the Chief Financial Office (CFO) is responsible for enterprise-wide fiscal planning and policy leadership. The CFO prepares the Governor’s Recommended Budget, represents the Governor’s budget and interim budget recommendations in legislative process. The office also provides guidance, training and direction to ensure fiscal integrity and consistency across executive branch state agencies. Specific policy sections within the CFO include Budget and Management, Office of the State Controller, Statewide Audit and Budget Reporting (SABRS), and Capital Finance and Planning (CFPS). As the CFO Executive Assistant within the Administration section, you will provide executive level support to the Chief Financial Officer, and all teams within the policy sections of OSC, SABRS and CFPS. Duties include the administration and coordination of office operations and statewide budget communications, representing the Chief Financial Office to all state agencies, Legislature and its offices, and other elected officials, as well as those external to state government.

Requirements

  • One year of experience performing administrative duties in support of agency projects or programs. Qualifying experience would involve data collection and analysis; project evaluation and/or analysis; interpretation and application of laws, rules, and regulations; or similar experience.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook
  • Demonstrated skill performing administrative support functions requiring independent judgment, organizational skills, decision-making, and problem resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability and skill communicating orally and in writing with a variety of people at all levels such as Administrators, other agency or legislative staff members, the press, and the public with the ability to maintain confidentiality as needed for the situation.
  • Knowledge of research techniques sufficient to collect, analyze, interpret and report data in both a narrative and statistical format.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employee will be required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state where the employee resides or provide an acceptable form of transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in state or local government programs providing administrative support.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines with a relatively high volume and changing priorities.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience providing executive support to Directors, Administrators, Executives and similar C-Suite roles, with prior knowledge and experience in budget development and legislative processes.
