About The Position

Waste Solution Services (WSS) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the financial health and operations of the company. WSS specializes in helping multifamily and commercial portfolios reduce and stabilize waste expenses by acting as an intermediary between clients and haulers. The company focuses on invoice auditing, contract optimization, service management, billing centralization, and issue resolution, emphasizing cost predictability, operational clarity, and strong execution. The CFO will manage AP, AR, Collections, FP&A, and bookkeeping, providing strategic guidance on budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and price increases. This role is approximately 80% management and oversight, with 20% direct involvement in financial tasks to support company growth and decision-making.

Requirements

Experience in building and leading internal (not outsourced) finance operations in a growing business.
Strong background in AP, AR, bookkeeping, budgeting, and forecasting.
Accrual accounting experience required.
Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting.
10+ years of relevant experience.
5+ years senior management experience.
Ability to manage the full finance function with minimal oversight.
Strong understanding of how finance supports company growth and vision.
Proven ability to earn trust through sound judgment, accuracy, and discretion.
Familiar with US GAAP.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting pricing strategy and price increases.
Waste management, multifamily, commercial services, or related industry experience is a plus.
Based in New York preferred; Connecticut will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Review and improve procedures and KPIs for Finance departments.
Oversee all WSS finance functions, including AP, AR, Collections, FP&A, and bookkeeping.
Build and manage a team for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and accrual-based accounting.
Lead the company’s budgeting process and support pricing and price increase decisions.
Build clear financial visibility for leadership and ensure accuracy across reporting.
Maintain accountability for finance processes, controls, and deadlines.
Partner with leadership to understand business performance and guide financial strategy.
Translate financial data into actionable insights that support company planning.
Ensure finance operations are organized, reliable, and scalable as WSS grows.
Provide trusted guidance on financial decisions that affect operations and revenue.
Help align finance with the company’s long-term vision and operating priorities.
