About The Position

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with prior experience in managing complex lending facilities, cultivating relationships with debt capital providers, and guiding companies through significant exit events. This role requires an experienced operator who can immediately contribute to Scratch's growth by establishing the necessary financial infrastructure, earning the trust of the board and investors, and leading a team of 5 across FP&A, accounting, and finance operations. The CFO will be a key strategic advisor to the executive team, board, and external capital providers.

Requirements

  • Direct, hands-on experience managing lending facilities and debt capital relationships, including negotiating term sheets, managing covenants, and handling facility amendments.
  • Experience leading or co-leading a $100M+ exit process (M&A, acquisition, or recapitalization), with $200M+ strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of building or materially improving financial infrastructure at a growth-stage company.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing a finance team, with a demonstrated ability to develop people and maintain high output standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in consumer lending, fintech, or marketplace lending.
  • Experience with structured finance, securitization, or forward flow agreement negotiation.
  • CPA, CFA, or investment banking background.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory reporting requirements of a licensed lender.
  • Experience working with PE- or VC-backed boards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all relationships with debt capital providers, including warehouse lenders, forward flow partners, and structured finance counterparties.
  • Ensure covenant compliance, borrowing base reporting, and facility utilization across existing lending facilities.
  • Lead negotiations for new or expanded credit facilities to support portfolio growth.
  • Develop and maintain the capital plan to ensure adequate liquidity for origination volume at target economics.
  • Serve as the primary financial lead for M&A, recapitalization, or exit processes.
  • Maintain financial reporting, data room materials, and management presentations for ongoing readiness.
  • Build and maintain the financial model for board reporting, investor updates, and transaction diligence.
  • Partner with the CEO and board to evaluate strategic alternatives and assess transaction structures.
  • Own the annual budget and quarterly forecast process, ensuring accountability from business unit owners.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team on revenue forecasting, pipeline modeling, and go-to-market investment decisions.
  • Partner with the SVP of Product to develop ROI frameworks for new product lines and technology investments.
  • Partner with the CEO to maintain the company's OKR framework, ensuring clear definitions, measurable targets, and accountability.
  • Ensure the integrity of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (GAAP, lender compliance, management reporting).
  • Build and improve financial controls, accounting policies, and operational finance processes.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Oversee tax, audit, and regulatory financial reporting.
  • Serve as the primary financial point of contact for existing equity investors and board members.
  • Own board meeting materials, investor updates, and financial narrative.
  • Build relationships with prospective strategic and financial acquirers.
  • Manage the annual audit process and relationships with external auditors.
  • Directly manage a team of 5 across FP&A, accounting, and finance operations.
  • Set clear expectations, develop team members' skills, and foster a high-trust, high-output culture.
  • Identify team gaps and make strategic hires as the company scales.
  • Provide guidance to the team on complex accounting, modeling, and process issues.
