About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a part-time Certified Surgical Technologist for the Nampa OB Department. The position supports surgical procedures as a CST while also caring for patients in the maternity unit and completing administrative duties. The role works 24 hours per week on nights, with shifts that may include weekdays, weekends, or holidays.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the CST/Obstetrics Technologist assists with C-sections by setting up and preparing surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff, and communicates with surgical teams and supervisory staff. Most of the position’s time is spent supporting Maternity Center patients and the unit, including patient rooming, chart setup, taking vital signs, bathing babies, stocking supplies, and performing Unit Clerk and Certified Nursing Assistant functions.

Requirements

• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or as a Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the NCCT.
• Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers from the AHA, ARC, or Military Training Network, required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with C-sections by setting up and preparing surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Support and communicate directly with surgical teams and supervisory staff.
• Room patients and set up charts.
• Help take patients’ vital signs.
• Give babies baths.
• Help stock the unit.
• Perform Unit Clerk and Certified Nursing Assistant functions to support patient care.
