About The Position
The Certified Surgical Tech works in Surgical Services at St Mary's Hospital in Kankakee, Illinois. This full-time, day-shift position is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and requires call. The role prepares sterile supplies and instruments for assigned procedures, maintains the sterile field during cases, and provides surgeons with sterile supplies and instruments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
- Graduate of an ORT training program, or on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years of experience; surgical-setting experience is preferred.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures in generalized surgical specialties, such as GYN, general surgery, and plastics.
- Experience scrubbing at least minor procedures in specialty surgical areas, such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, ENT, and urology.
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintenance of current certification.
