About The Position

The Certified Operating Room Tech prepares sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintains the sterile field during cases, and provides surgeons with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures. This is a full-time, day-shift position at Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or completion of on-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years of experience; surgical-setting experience preferred.
• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Experience scrubbing minor and major procedures in generalized surgical specialties, such as GYN, general surgery, and plastics.
• Experience scrubbing at least minor procedures in specialty surgical areas, such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, ENT, and urology.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
