About The Position

Functions in an advanced scrub role for operative procedures or as a cardiovascular CST. Provides an advanced level of practice utilizing knowledge, expertise, and involvement in professional activities to serve as a resource person for their patient population. Plans and executes complex daily activities including the ability to prioritize, impact the “30-minute” guarantee for inpatients and 25 minutes for outpatients in turnovers (patient out to in). Demonstrates role model professionalism and a working knowledge of advanced technology (i.e. minimally invasive procedures, daVinci) and makes significant contributions in reducing cost per case (i.e. impact preference card accuracy, choice or supplies, suture, etc). Serves in the role of preceptor for students and new hires.

Requirements

  • Require current CST national certification. Must maintain national certification with documented proof of current certification status.
  • Require a minimum of one (1) year of cardiovascular experience, or three (3) years of general and vascular surgery experience.
  • BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
  • CST: Certified Surg Technologist

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Prefer demonstrated working knowledge of computers.
  • Prefer demonstrated knowledge of specialty cardiac procedures, instrumentation and equipment.
