This role involves providing essential assistance to surgeons and residents during operative procedures. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for selecting, organizing, and anticipating the needs for surgical instruments, medical supplies, and equipment, as well as providing retraction under the surgeon's direction. A critical aspect of this position is maintaining the highest standards of aseptic technique throughout all operative procedures, including proper surgical attire, hand scrubbing, gowning and gloving of self and team, understanding sterile and non-sterile boundaries, and managing traffic patterns within the operating room. The technologist must also be able to identify and resolve breaches in aseptic technique. Additionally, the role includes performing all phases of reprocessing for surgical instruments and supplies, such as decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and troubleshooting any parameter failures. Other related duties as assigned are also part of this position.
