About The Position
Substitute teachers are those who hold a bachelor degree (or higher) in education. This position requires a Nebraska Teaching (Initial, Standard or Professional) or State Substitute certificate. The pay rates for the 2026-2027 school year are pending board approval. Current LPS employees retiring or changing from a benefits-eligible position to a Substitute Only position are subject to PPACA or NPERS re-employment rules and will need to wait 90 or 180 days. Applicants who do NOT hold a degree in education should apply for the Certified, Local Substitute Teacher, 2026-2027 application. Requirements
- Hold a bachelor degree (or higher) in education.
- Possess a Nebraska Teaching (Initial, Standard or Professional) or State Substitute certificate.
- Include email addresses for a minimum of three professional references in the online application.
- Upload a copy of your current degree and/or coursework transcripts.
- Upload a copy of your NDE Teaching Certificate.
- Provide official transcripts of degrees/coursework prior to starting work.
- Provide a valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate to Human Resources prior to starting work.
