About The Position

Propel East is seeking a full-time Building Substitute Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This role involves covering daily absences and long-term leaves within the assigned building. When covering long-term leaves, the substitute teacher may act as the teacher of record, completing lesson plans and assuming all related responsibilities. The position also offers the possibility of filling permanent vacancies during the selection process. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain familiarity with Propel Schools' culture and various classroom settings, preparing individuals for potential future roles as classroom teachers at Propel Schools. Requirements

  • Valid PA Teacher Certification
  • TB Test
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Act 114 FBI Clearance
  • Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Act 168 Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure
  • Act 24 Arrest and Conviction Disclosure
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • Ability to develop rigorous lesson plans and assessments
  • Deep content area knowledge
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development
  • Ability to utilize data to differentiate instruction

Responsibilities

  • Cover day-to-day absences in the assigned building.
  • Cover absences for long-term leaves.
  • Act as the teacher of record for long-term leaves, completing lesson plans and assuming all responsibilities.
  • Fill in for permanent vacancies as needed while selection processes are underway.
