About The Position
Walgreens pharmacy micro-fulfillment centers use robotic technology to dispense and ship prescriptions to Walgreens retail stores. The Certified Pharmacy Technician provides order-processing support for fulfillment and assists in preparing and distributing prescription medications through the fulfillment system. The role follows standard operating procedures and company policies. Responsibilities include processing patient registrations and prescription requests, entering refill orders, resolving data-entry exceptions, and obtaining missing prescription information. The technician operates automated machinery, sorts medications, moves inventory through workflow stages, counts and fills prescriptions, labels, packs, and ships orders. The role also involves resolving third-party rejects, cleaning and maintaining machinery and an orderly work area, assisting pharmacists at the facility and other locations, and communicating issues to senior staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Obtain and maintain registration in good standing with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Basic PC skills, including starting and shutting down a computer, using a mouse, opening and closing programs, switching between programs, saving files, printing documents, and accessing information online.
- Basic search engine skills, including opening a browser, entering URLs, using a search engine, bookmarking sites, navigating with browser buttons, and completing online forms.
- Intermediate keyboarding skills of at least 25 WPM, including touch typing and document formatting.
- Able and willing to perform tasks involving pushing, pulling, grasping, and lifting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Able and willing to carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing and able to work a flexible shift.
- At least 18 years of age.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in a retail, fulfillment, or call center environment.
- Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality and productivity standards.
- Intermediate to advanced keyboarding skills of at least 35 WPM, including touch typing and document formatting.
Responsibilities
- Process new patient registrations using Walgreens prescription data-entry procedures and enter information into the appropriate system.
- Handle patient prescription requests in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing.
- Obtain missing prescription information, interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes), and resolve data-entry exceptions.
- Operate automated machinery, sort medications, and transition inventory through workflow stages while focusing on quality control.
- Count and fill prescriptions, affix labels, and pack and ship medications.
- Clean and help maintain machinery and keep the work area orderly.
- Resolve third-party rejects by reviewing and gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting according to individual plan requirements.
- Assist pharmacists at the facility and at other locations.
- Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate.
