About The Position

Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital Springfield is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide patient care in its 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The hospital serves patients recovering from strokes, brain or spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions. The position is PRN, with varied day schedules, in a fast-paced team environment with opportunities to learn and grow.

The COTA communicates patient progress and concerns to the supervising occupational therapist and interdisciplinary team, supports families and nursing staff with follow-through programs and home exercises, and completes related scheduling, recordkeeping, and documentation. The role also includes maintaining clean and safe treatment areas and equipment and complying with applicable company policies, laws, and professional standards.

Requirements

• Must be licensed and eligible to practice as a COTA in the state where services are rendered.
• CPR certification required.
• Passion for helping others and ability to work as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Communicate patient progress or concerns to the supervising occupational therapist and interdisciplinary team.
• Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in follow-through programs and home exercises.
• Assist with patient scheduling and enter post-treatment charges in patient records daily.
• Document patient care accurately and in accordance with regulatory, licensing, payer, and accrediting requirements.
• Maintain treatment equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition.
• Comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, Corporate Compliance Agreement, applicable laws, and professional standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
