About The Position
Putnam Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a 160-bed skilled nursing facility seeking a full-time Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join its rehabilitation team. The COTA works closely with Occupational Therapists and the interdisciplinary care team to help residents improve activities of daily living, strength, mobility, independence, and quality of life. Both new graduates and experienced COTAs are encouraged to apply. The position assists the Occupational Therapist in implementing treatment programs, provides therapy services, documents sessions and resident progress, and may participate in care plan and interdisciplinary team meetings. The COTA also provides adaptive equipment and recommends environmental modifications when appropriate, educates residents and caregivers, maintains therapy supplies and treatment areas, and follows facility policies and rehabilitation documentation standards. The advertised pay range is $37.50–$40.50 per hour. Aetna health insurance begins on the first of the month after hire, with low employee contributions.
Requirements
- Hold a current COTA license in good standing with the New York State Board of Education.
- Have certification through AOTCB.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation setting.
- Knowledge of MDS, PRI, and care planning.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in implementing occupational therapy treatment programs.
- Provide therapy services to improve residents’ activities of daily living, mobility, and functional independence.
- Document therapy sessions and resident progress accurately.
- Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.
- Provide adaptive equipment and recommend environmental modifications when appropriate.
- Educate residents and caregivers on therapy techniques and treatment plans.
- Maintain therapy supplies, equipment, and treatment areas.
- Follow facility policies and rehabilitation documentation standards.
