About The Position

Independence Rehab is seeking a full-time outpatient Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join its therapy team at Bellingham at Orchard, an assisted living facility in Bellingham, Washington. The role supports residents through rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term care, helping them make meaningful progress and improve their quality of life. The COTA works collaboratively with the therapy team in a skilled nursing setting and provides patient-centered therapy services that help individuals regain function, independence, and confidence. Competency training is available.

Requirements

• Current Washington State Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license in good standing.
• Associate degree from an accredited OTA program.
• Organized, self-motivated, and patient-focused.
• Passion for working with the geriatric population.

Nice To Haves

• One year of skilled nursing facility (SNF) experience is preferred; newer clinicians with a strong interest in geriatrics are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Support residents through rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term care.
• Perform and assist with transfers.
• Provide adaptive activities of daily living (ADL) retraining and functional task practice.
• Collaborate with the evaluating occupational therapist and interdisciplinary care team.
• Treat a diverse caseload, including occasional clinically complex patients.
