About The Position

Sheridan Community Hospital is seeking a PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our Rehabilitation Services team. In this role, you will support Occupational Therapists in delivering hands-on care to patients across inpatient, outpatient, and short-term rehabilitation (swing bed) settings. This is an excellent opportunity for a COTA seeking flexible PRN hours while making a meaningful impact on patient recovery and independence. Sheridan Community Hospital is a 22-bed critical access hospital dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care close to home. Our rehabilitation team plays a key role in helping patients regain function and improve quality of life across our rural service area.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current Michigan Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs and schedules

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in inpatient rehab, outpatient therapy, or swing bed setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to improve daily living skills and functional independence
  • Support patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and short-term rehabilitation settings
  • Monitor patient progress and report updates to the Occupational Therapist
  • Document treatments accurately and timely in the electronic health record
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized therapy environment
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to support patient outcomes
  • Educate patients and families on exercises and functional activities as directed
  • Maintain focus on patient safety, quality outcomes, and positive patient experience
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and quality improvement initiatives
