About The Position
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs routine personal care duties for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The CNA maintains a safe environment and reports problems, while supporting the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center. With experience, the CNA may serve as a preceptor to orient new CNAs.
Requirements
- Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide is required.
- Must be listed on the relevant Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide in Virginia and/or West Virginia based on work location(s) within Valley Health.
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support), American Heart Association-approved Healthcare Provider (HCP), is required. New hires must have appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.
- Must understand basic principles of human growth and development.
- Must be competent to interact successfully with patients according to their special needs, which may vary based on the age of the patient served.
- Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
- Will be required to obtain Valley Health-provided annual flu vaccination if employed in Long-Term Care clinical areas.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
