About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, performs routine personal care duties for patients, maintains a safe environment, and reports problems. The CNA supports the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center. Once experienced, the CNA may act as a preceptor during the orientation of new CNAs.

Requirements

• Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide is required; the CNA must be listed on the relevant Virginia and/or West Virginia registry based on work location(s) within Valley Health.
• American Heart Association-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers is required. New hires must have the appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.
• Must understand basic principles of human growth and development.
• Must be competent to interact successfully with patients according to their special needs, which may vary based on patient age.
• Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
• If employed in Long-Term Care clinical areas, must obtain the Valley Health-provided annual flu vaccination.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
