About The Position
The Certified Nursing Assistant performs routine personal care duties for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The CNA helps maintain a safe environment and reports problems. The role supports the mission and vision of Winchester Rehabilitation Center and Winchester Medical Center. Once experienced, the CNA may act as a preceptor during the orientation of new CNAs.
Requirements
- Registry of the Board of Nursing as a Certified Nurse Aide is required; the CNA must be listed on the relevant Virginia and/or West Virginia registry based on work location(s) within Valley Health.
- American Heart Association-approved BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider certification is required. New hires must have the appropriate AHA certification before completing orientation.
- Must understand basic principles of human growth and development.
- Must be competent to interact successfully with patients according to their special needs, which may vary based on patient age.
- Must have a reliable means of phone communication with the hospital.
- Employees in Long-Term Care clinical areas will be required to obtain Valley Health-provided annual flu vaccination.
