About The Position

Timbers of Jasper offers free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training through the ASC Nurse Aide Training Program. No previous experience is required; participants must be committed to providing compassionate care to residents. The program includes free classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training and can prepare participants to become a CNA in a few weeks. Training takes place over two weeks and consists of 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, with support from ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, participants can apply for a position at one of American Senior Communities’ Indiana locations. Additional pathways for advancing a nursing career are available.

Requirements

No previous experience is required.
Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
Complete the two-week training program, including 30 classroom hours and 45 hands-on clinical hours, and complete testing to become a CNA.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, tooth brushing, and shaving.
Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
Reposition and transfer residents, including between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
Obtain and record resident vital signs and observations.
Answer patient call lights and assist with requests.
Build meaningful relationships with residents by providing care and companionship.
