Free CNA Training Class
About The Position
Elkhart Meadows is providing free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training through the ASC Nurse Aide Training Program. The program is open to people with no previous experience who are committed to providing compassionate care to residents. Training lasts two weeks and includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, supported by ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. The class start date is November 16th. After completing the program and testing, participants can pursue a position at one of American Senior Communities’ Indiana-based communities, including any of ASC’s 100 locations across Indiana. The program also offers pathways for advancing a nursing career. Talent Acquisition Partners assist participants with applying for positions.
Requirements
- No previous experience is required.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
- Complete the Nurse Aide Training Program and testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, brushing teeth, and shaving.
- Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
- Reposition and transfer residents, including between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
- Obtain and record resident vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and other observations.
- Answer resident call lights and assist with requests.
- Build relationships with residents and provide companionship as well as care.
