About The Position
The primary purpose of this job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. This role involves assisting residents with various daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Requirements
- Must have a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or be enrolled in a Temporary Nursing Assistant Program.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Responsibilities
- Provide routine daily nursing care and services to assigned residents according to their assessment and care plan.
- Report any changes in resident condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse promptly.
- Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care.
- Assist residents with bath functions (bed bath, tub, or shower).
- Assist residents with dressing and undressing.
- Assist residents with hair care functions.
- Assist residents with nail care (excluding diabetic residents).
- Keep residents clean-shaven.
- Perform incontinent care and change linens when wet or soiled.
- Change bed linens and ensure they are free of wrinkles.
- Make beds (occupied and unoccupied).
- Add extra covers to beds as requested.
- Position bedfast residents correctly and comfortably.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
- Check and report bowel movements and stool character.
- Assist residents in preparing for activities and social programs.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
- Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices.
- Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
