About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, direct care to patients at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. The role supports patients with daily living activities while maintaining their comfort, safety, and dignity. The CNA works closely with nursing staff to monitor patient conditions and promptly report changes. Through attentive, personalized care, the CNA contributes to patients’ well-being and advocates for them while following healthcare protocols and working as part of a team.

Requirements

• Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in Michigan, or completion of a CNA class within the last two years.
• Basic knowledge of patient care techniques and infection control standards.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure, as directed by nursing staff.
• Help patients move safely around their environment and reposition bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
• Observe and promptly report changes in patients’ physical or emotional condition to the nursing team.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment by following infection control and safety procedures.
• Offer companionship and respond to patients’ needs with empathy and respect.
• Assist with preparing and serving meals and ensure patients receive proper nutrition and hydration.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to support continuity of care and participate in patient care planning.
