CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant
About The Position
Elderwood at Williamsville is hiring Certified Nursing Assistants for full-time, part-time, and weekend-only Weekend Warrior schedules. The facility is a 200-bed skilled nursing facility and home to Western New York’s only non-hospital ventilator unit. CNAs provide hands-on personal and nursing care, support residents’ daily living needs, observe and report changes in condition, and promote residents’ dignity, safety, and comfort, including for residents with complex medical and pulmonary needs. Weekend Warrior shifts run from Friday at 10:00 p.m. through Monday at 6:00 a.m., with 8-hour or 12-hour shifts totaling 24 hours per weekend. Traditional full-time and part-time roles are available on all shifts. Shift differentials may be up to $2.25 per hour, and eligible employees may participate in a 10% Pay-in-Lieu-of-Benefits program.
Requirements
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
- Registration in the State Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) is required.
- Must be active on the State Nursing Aide Registry with no findings or convictions involving resident abuse, mistreatment, or misappropriation of property.
- Ability to supervise and work well with other personnel.
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Caring and respectful attitude toward residents.
- Physical stamina for constant activity.
- Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Training and work experience in a geriatric setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Direct and monitor the personal care duties carried out by Nursing Assistants on an assigned team.
- Report residents’ unusual symptoms, daily needs, and progress to the Charge Nurse.
- Notify the Charge Nurse of changes in residents’ conditions or needs.
- Follow each resident’s Profile of Care and monitor Nursing Assistants’ performance in carrying out appropriate aspects of the care plan.
- Respond immediately to residents’ requests.
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living according to their plans of care and individual needs.
