About The Position

Performs patient care tasks and basic patient care services under the direction of a professional registered nurse. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing while preserving and protecting patient autonomy, dignity, and rights. This position is part of the Nursing Float Pool.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent experience, within the past 6 months.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• CNA program/certification, AEMT/Paramedic licensure/certification, or MA program/certification.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with the professional registered nurse.
• Perform patient care tasks under RN direction, including taking vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, and applying venous compression devices.
• Perform basic patient care services under RN direction, including measuring height and actual weight, tracking intake and output, retrieving equipment and supplies, and stocking patient rooms.
• Maintain a conducive patient environment by keeping rooms clutter-free, removing linen and trash, and supporting quiet surroundings.
• Support patient and family communication needs by answering call lights, orienting new patients to their rooms, and assisting with discharge appointments.
• Promote safety by assisting with patient mobility and conducting safety rounds/4Ps.
• Promote comfort by providing water, ice, cups, pillows, and blankets, and assisting with meals.
• Transport non-monitored patients.
• Assist the RN with monitored and/or intubated transports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
