About The Position

TrustPoint Hospital is hiring full-time and part-time Certified Nursing Assistants for day and night shifts. The hospital is a 217-bed treatment center providing inpatient and outpatient medical and psychiatric services, including acute physical medicine and rehabilitation and adult, adolescent, geriatric, and medical psychiatry. The CNA provides medical or therapeutic care under the direction of nursing or clinical staff, helping maintain patient safety, comfort, dignity, and a supportive treatment environment. Pay is $18–$24.19 per hour based on years of experience, with shift differentials of up to $4.50 per hour. CNAs support patient care and treatment goals through observation, assistance with daily activities and mobility, vital-sign collection, documentation, communication with the care team, and reinforcement of skills taught by clinical professionals. They follow facility policies and procedures, maintain assigned areas and equipment, respond professionally to patient needs, and perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Additional education or training resulting in nursing assistant certification under state requirements.
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or license, per state requirements.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification; training is available upon hire and offered by the facility.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a behavioral health setting and knowledge or experience working with the facility’s patient population.
First-aid qualification may be required depending on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

Help ensure patients’ well-being and provide a positive, supportive, structured environment under the direction of a charge nurse or supervisor.
Conduct patient observation rounds on time, including assigned 15-minute, within-reach, or 1:1 observation.
Keep patient rooms clean and uncluttered; clean assigned units and equipment such as beds, IV poles, and wheelchairs.
Assist with transferring, lifting, raising, turning, and transporting patients.
Obtain and accurately document assigned vital signs, height, and weight.
Identify yourself to patients and visitors, respond promptly to patient requests, and communicate clearly with patients, family members, guests, and healthcare team members.
Engage patients in activities and interactions that encourage progress toward treatment goals.
Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner, seek to understand the source of distress, and use de-escalation techniques; assist with seclusion and restraints when necessary.
Monitor behavioral improvements, reinforce positive behaviors, and report treatment responses and changes to the team; report significant changes to the nurse immediately.
Reinforce skills taught by nurses, physicians, and therapists to promote physical and mental wellness.
Provide comfort and preserve patient dignity and privacy while assisting with feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, movement, and linen changes.
Document timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical information in patient medical records.
Collaborate with staff to treat and rehabilitate the facility’s patient population.
Maintain attendance and follow the work schedule; follow established patient-care policies, procedures, and standards.
Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, acknowledge unmet patient needs, and work to resolve complaints while prioritizing patient safety.
Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
