About The Position

North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama, is hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for its long-term acute care setting, serving patients with complex medical conditions. The role provides direct patient care and maintains patient-care standards under the direction of an RN or LPN. The CNA provides basic nursing care within the scope of practice, considering patients’ psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, physical, and age-specific needs. Full-time day or night shifts are available, with 12-hour shifts. Hospital experience is required.

Requirements

Prior hospital experience.
High school diploma, GED, or CNA certification.
BLS certification obtained within 90 days of hire.
Ability to work with people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Ability to be flexible, organized, and function in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

Provide basic nursing care within the CNA scope of practice to meet patients’ psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and physical needs.
Perform basic patient-care responsibilities while considering age-specific standards of care.
Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
Explain care to patients and families before providing it, and answer questions within the scope of practice.
Respond to patients in emergency or physically distressful situations.
Maintain documentation in accordance with current standards and policies.
Use resources appropriately and accept accountability for their utilization.
Organize and prioritize work, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Perform other duties as assigned within the CNA scope of practice.
