About The Position

North Park offers a free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program for people committed to providing compassionate care to residents. No previous experience is required. The program includes two weeks of training: 30 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, supported by ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs. After completing the program and testing, participants can apply for a CNA position at one of American Senior Communities’ Indiana locations. Additional pathways are available for people who want to advance their nursing careers.

CNA work may include helping residents with personal care, meals, movement and transfers, vital signs, and requests, while also providing companionship. The program provides a textbook, study materials, a uniform, one-on-one instructor time, and state testing at no cost. American Senior Communities also offers career-development opportunities, including tuition and certification reimbursement, college and university partnerships, and paid training.

Requirements

• No previous experience is required.
• Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
• Complete the two-week CNA training program, including 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, brushing teeth, and shaving.
• Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
• Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
• Obtain and record resident vital signs and observations, including heart rate and blood pressure.
• Answer resident call lights and assist with requests.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents and provide companionship.
