About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct, hands-on care to residents in a long-term care setting within a Critical Access Hospital. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the CNA supports residents with activities of daily living, ensures their comfort and safety, and promotes dignity and quality of life in a compassionate and respectful manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CNA certification in [State Name].
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Empathy, patience, and a strong work ethic are essential.
  • Physical ability to perform job tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and assisting residents.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, toileting, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, weight, and other routine observations.
  • Report changes in resident condition promptly to nursing staff.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment, following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents; encourage social interaction and engagement.
  • Assist in transferring and repositioning residents using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as needed.
  • Help residents with meals and hydration, including feeding when necessary and monitoring dietary restrictions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic or paper health records per facility standards.
  • Participate in resident care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings as requested.
  • Comply with HIPAA, state/federal regulations, and facility policies, including long-term care standards.
  • Attend mandatory training, in-services, and continuing education requirements.
  • Manage time, maintain a safe and clean environment, practice confidentiality, treat all persons with respect and professional courtesy, accept change, support the mission and vision of Rosebud Health Care Center (RHCC), accept and provide constructive feedback, be a team player, and adhere to the infection control, fire and safety, disaster and hazardous waste policies.
  • Demonstrate the competencies for the position and adhere to policies and procedures for their department.
