About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential direct and indirect nursing care under the proficient direction of a Registered Nurse, following established policies and procedures. The CNA performs patient care tasks, supports nursing staff, and contributes to a patient-centered mission in a collaborative healthcare team. The role calls for a strong work ethic, compassion, effective teamwork, and a commitment to practicing at the top of the CNA’s license.

The position is on the 5th Floor Acute Care Neuro Trauma Unit at St. Anthony Hospital, a 36-bed unit specializing in neuro, trauma, and orthopedics. The unit primarily serves patients requiring Level I Trauma Center care, generally ages 16 and older, with occasional overflow of general medical-surgical patients. St. Anthony Hospital is located in Lakewood, Colorado, and is a Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program.
• State-registered CNA license.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of previous CNA or healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient comfort and hygiene measures, preventative skin care, safety measures, transportation, and support for nutritional and elimination needs.
• Promptly answer call lights and respond to patient needs.
• Accurately and promptly report patient status changes and needs to the Registered Nurse.
• Document vital signs, input and output, nutritional intake, personal hygiene, weights, and other care performed; promptly report findings to the Registered Nurse.
• Maintain patient charts and records thoroughly and confidentially.
• Assist with safe and appropriate delegated patient care tasks under the direct supervision of a nurse.
• Provide person-centered care with sensitivity and respect in collaboration with other team members.
• Communicate patient-related hazards or errors to the healthcare team.
