About The Position
ASC provides a free Nurse Aide Training Program for people interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). No previous experience is required; participants need a commitment to providing compassionate care to residents. The program includes free classroom and hands-on training and takes place over two weeks, with 30 hours of classroom instruction and 45 hours of clinical training. Participants are supported by ASC instructors, nurses, and CNAs who have completed the same path. After completing the program and testing, graduates can apply for positions at ASC communities across Indiana. Further nursing-career pathways may also be available.
Requirements
- No previous experience is required.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care to residents.
- Complete the two-week training program, including 30 hours of classroom work and 45 hours of hands-on clinical training, and complete testing.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, hair care, tooth brushing, and shaving.
- Help residents at mealtimes, including transporting them to the dining room and assisting with eating and drinking.
- Reposition and transfer residents between beds, wheelchairs, and toilets.
- Obtain and record resident vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and other observations.
- Answer patient call lights and assist with residents’ requests.
- Build meaningful relationships with residents by providing care and companionship.
