About The Position

Adventist Health Specialty Bakersfield is a 47-bed hospital with three operating rooms and four cardiac catheterization labs, providing specialty services to Kern County. The Certified Nursing Assistant provides personal nursing care to patients under the direction of a licensed registered nurse (RN). The role performs tasks associated with activities of daily living and self-care needs, completes routine assigned tasks, and reports patient status and concerns to the RN.

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor per Adventist Health policy is required.
• Associates must receive all required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred in California and Hawaii.
• Audiometry and vision training, or a certificate from CHDP, is preferred in California and Hawaii.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living, including nutrition and hydration, elimination, personal care, positioning devices, restraints, and restorative care.
• Take vital signs, including pulse and blood pressure.
• Help patients with basic needs such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Perform clerical duties, including routing patient reports as appropriate.
• Use organizational and prioritization skills to keep the unit running smoothly and meet deadlines.
• Provide assessment data to a certified nurse within the scope of practice, including vital signs and patient verbal and nonverbal responses.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
