About The Position

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Certified Nursing Assistant on the Skilled Unit at Georgia Regional Hospital - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA.

This position performs assigned direct care activities and basic nursing procedures in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

Requirements

• Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant
• One (1) year of experience required at the lower-level Nursing Asst 1 (HCS050) or position equivalent.
• National and State background check as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists nursing staff in assessing the client's physical and mental condition according to policies and procedures.
• Assists with patient's feeding (this may include tube feeding), personal hygiene and grooming functions as necessary.
• Turns and re-positions bedridden clients, with assistance, to prevent and/or promote the healing of pressure sores.
• Completes required documentation in patient and unit records.
• Follows hospital/departmental procedures regarding infection control.
• Performs basic nursing procedures, such as taking vital signs, weight, specimens according to the treatment plan.
• Provides training and/or direction to patients in activities of daily living in order to promote increased independence.
• Utilizes correct body mechanics in performing patient care activities to prevent injury.
• Maintains current certification with the State Aide Registry (NAR).
• Completes a minimum of 24 hours of in-service education (training), as required by NAR each year, to maintain current CNA certification.
