The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at our Wilson Community Health Center in Wilson, NC, plays a vital role in assisting the medical provider and nursing staff with daily clinical activities, contributing to our mission of meeting community needs and breaking down healthcare barriers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate from an accredited program for nursing assistants and certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Must be detailed oriented.
- BLS Certification.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examination by taking and recording vital signs.
- Obtain and record a brief patient history.
- Direct patients to prepare for the exam.
- Notify the nurse or medical provider if a patient appears acutely ill or if vitals are outside of normal limits.
- Maintain and clean exam rooms.
- Track, organize, and order supplies for the clinical area.
- Assist the medical provider in performing tasks and procedures, such as chaperoning on physical exams, assisting with pap smears and fecal occult blood testing, and performing ECGs.
- Clean and sterilize equipment per procedure and provide proper documentation of tasks performed.
- Complete proper documentation of patient information while adhering to patient confidentiality.
- Assist patients in completing necessary forms, including registration forms, evaluation cards, past medical history, and adult comprehensive history and physical forms.
