The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Trauma/Ortho/Tele PT.6 Nights role at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center - Med Surg: 8 Tower is a part-time position responsible for assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients. This includes tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with activity orders and ambulation. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data, as well as accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The role involves purposeful rounding, participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and ensuring patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly. Additionally, the CNA will collect specimens, maintain nursing area stock, clean equipment, and perform patient positioning and transporting duties. They will also assist with nutritional needs and skin integrity maintenance. Depending on unit requirements, the CNA may be asked to remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
