The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Med/Surg Onc PT.6 Nights position is a part-time role requiring 24 hours per week, with a night shift schedule of two 12-hour shifts per week from 7pm to 7am. This role involves alternating weekends and holidays. The CNA will assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with activity orders and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and participating in patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The CNA will ensure patient call lights are accessible and answered promptly, collect specimens, maintain nursing area stock, and perform patient positioning and transporting duties. Tasks related to nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity will also be performed. Depending on site/unit requirements and under RN direction, the CNA may be asked to remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the life span.
