This full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position is located at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center within the Med Surg: 8 Tower unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs, patient intake and output, and accurately documenting care in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA will perform purposeful rounding, assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensure patient call lights are within reach and answered promptly. Additionally, the role involves collecting specimens, maintaining nursing area stock, cleaning equipment, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling. Tasks related to nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and providing special patient supplies are also included. Under RN direction, the CNA may be required to remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
