This is a Full Time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position on the Neuro/Tele unit, working 9 night shifts. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. The CNA will also be responsible for measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as accurately documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The position requires purposeful rounding, prompt communication of patient needs to the RN, and participation in admission, transfer, and discharge processes under RN supervision. The CNA will ensure patient call lights are always within reach and answered promptly. Additional duties include collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, maintaining stock for the nursing area, cleaning equipment and work areas, and performing patient positioning and transporting duties that require lifting and pushing/pulling. The role also involves tasks related to patient nutrition and skin integrity, ensuring special patient supplies are provided and maintained. Depending on unit requirements, the CNA may be asked to remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and perform bladder scans. Practice within infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures, is essential. The CNA must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
